The closed shelves based on a new concept that realize a 24-hour library Equipped with the increasingly demanded function in library operations where the self-service style is progressing. This new system contributes largely to further advancement of library solutions.

Media Runner is a new generation of automated library system, realizing the three following functions for the first time in Japan: "automatic checkout", "automatic inventory" and "reserved book priority checkout".

Reading Space

Establishing a linkage between the Media Runner body, IC tags attached on the stored books, and inventory system within the library enabled real-time management of the storage and usage conditions. Also, with simple operations and security functions achieved simultaneously, the "automatic checkout" is possible without a manager. Furthermore, the "automatic inventory", which had ever been difficult to achieve, was realized, reducing heavy work load of library staff. This leads to strengthening the original duties of library staff to provide better service to library users. To further optimize automatic checkout operations, the system is equipped with the "reserved book priority checkout" function which allows for taking out reserved books without waiting time, and the function that enables additional checkout of unreserved books on the spot.
