1945 Okamura founded in Yokohama (Kanagawa Prefecture), taking the name of its location, Okamura Town. (1) 1950 Began production of torque converters for trains, cars and industrial vehicles. (2) 1953 Jointly developed Japan's first post-war aircraft, the N-52, with the University of Japan. (3) 1955 Began production of the Type-36 desk, an early form of today's modern work station. (4) 1957 Developed Japan's first front-wheel-drive automatic car, the Mikasa. (5) Produced the LowBoy gondola for retail stores inside US armed forces bases in Japan. 1962 First Okamura Fair held. (6) 1963 Technology partnership with L.A. Darling Company. (United States) (7) 1969 Technology partnership with Tyler Refrigeration Corp.(United States) Okamura-Tyler established. (8) 1970 Industrial robot developed. (9) 1974 Hotel New Otani Showroom (Tokyo) opened.
