We measured the waists of 100 adult males and females. The above chart shows the differences among the individuals measured. By pulling down the levers on both sides of the backrest, the backrest curve becomes gentler, to fit people of a larger build. Pulling the levers up creates a narrower curve, to fit people of smaller stature.

The dial under the seat on the left-hand side can be used to lock and release the backrest position. The backrest and seat move in tandem, offering upright and reclined positions. In addition, the chair offers a forward tilt position. The design achieves positions adjustable up to 23° backward and 10° forward from the upright position. Sylphy's backrest can be locked in four different positions.
