Nurturing individuals When you plant a seed into fertile soil, a fresh shoot will appear and eventually it will grow up to be a strong and healthy tree. Following this philosophy, Okamura created educational facilities to act as a nurturing place that allows students to develop their own individuality in an ideal educational environment which suits their ages.
Library Area
Higher Education
Libraries are required to be not only a place where people meet books, but also a place where people meet information and where people meet people. Libraries need to be equipped for various media.
Focusing on both "active learning" and "lecture learning", we provide a space that facilitates the creation of knowledge.
Meeting place
Learning place
Libraries, where people study books or information, need comfortable space and functionality. It is important to consider the convenience for users.
In addition to supporting academic pursuits, it is necessary for a campus to also provide space for a variety of other student activities.
Studying place
Supporting place
We encourage both research and further development of known academic ideas and concepts. We created an environment where both teachers and students can work together as a team.

About listed products This catalog is an English version compiled from the product catalogs for Japan. The products listed in this catalog are developed on the assumption that they will be used in Japan. Therefore, the products are based on the Japanese Industrial Standards.
Elementary/ Secondary Education
Support Area
We have changed our learning environment from a place where you simply“Learn and think”, to a place where you“Discover, think, examine, discuss, and present information”.
Developing place
Interacting place
Lunch rooms are expected to be a communication space for casual talks as well as a relaxation space.
Our educational spaces allow interaction with a variety of people beyond the school year. We create bonds that go beyond the boundaries of the traditional classroom.
Dormitories play an important role as a space for communication with schoolmates, and not just as a living space.
Interacting place
Living place
We created a space where students can feel comfortable learning, and teachers and staff can have a pleasant working environment.
Research rooms where users create new knowledge need to respond flexibly to the needs of individual or joint research.

Product Development
Based on the idea that "Quality pays for itself ", we provide high-quality products that improve society as a whole.
Our Philosophy on Product Development
■ Design Policy
Pursuing products that customers can truly value
The Okamura Group is committed to high-quality manufacturing and design that can benefit all people, and strives to create a better environment that can be enjoyed for generations to come. Since its inception, the theme of "Making a human-friendly environment" has been the main driving force to build up expert knowledge of software and hardware. Based on this knowledge, we continue to create attractive environments in various workplaces. To realize this goal, we develop our products under three main concepts: "Quality Design", "Eco-Design", and "Universal Design".
Quality Design
Contributing to society through high-quality design
● Pursuing a vision for the product ● Appropriately satisfying needs
Universal Design
Eco-Design
● Creating new value
Reducing the environmental impact of the product throughout its life cycle
Creating products and spaces that all people can use comfortably
9
● Quality Design
The Okamura Group pursues the essence of products and aims to make products that our customers can truly value. In the pursuit of "the perfect product", we are constantly refining our manufacturing abilities. We aim to create high-quality designs that can provide customers with added value. In addition to designs based on human engineering, we ensure safety, improve comfort, and create an environment that enhances creativity. From now on we are committed to develop products that perfectly match the needs of our customers.
● Universal Design
The Okamura Group is actively working on designs that can benefit all people. We develop products and spaces specifically for people from all walks of life. We enhance the basic performance of our products so that a greater number of people are able to use them comfortably. We also provide ample customization and optional extras so that all customers can use our products and spaces with maximum satisfaction. Efforts to Spread the Adoption of Universal Design Okamura has taken an active role in the International Association for Universal Design ( IAUD ) since its establishment. This includes sponsorship of international conferences, and support for various activities. Through the promotion and implementation of universal design, we hope to contribute to the development of society and provide a better standard of living for all.

● ACORN - An Okamura Initiative to Enhance Biodiversity
The Okamura Group has started comprehensive implementation of the ACORN action plan that aims to conserve biodiversity and promote the sustainable use of resources.
Act-2 Learn about the natural environment
Act-1 Utilize lumber that ensures forest health
Act-3 Enlarge the area of influence
Act-1 Utilize lumber that ensures forest health
Act-2 Learn about the natural environment
Based on the Okamura Group lumber usage policy, we avoid using any wood that has the potential to adversely affect the environment or biodiversity. In addition, we are developing products that make use of wood resources that have less impact on the environment such as certified forest-friendly materials, Japanese domestic lumber, or waste wood.
Environmental education programs are occasionally carried out to raise employee awareness in regard to the significance and importance of biodiversity. Knowledge and understanding gained through these programs can then be applied to work such as product design.
Act-3 Enlarge the area of influence
Okamura Group Lumber Usage Policy 1. We do not use the following types of lumber: a) Taken from endangered species. b) Obtained through illegal logging, production, or trade.
To enlarge the area of influence that the ACORN project has on society, we are working hard to promote ACORN activities, and ensure that there is adequate two-way communication with all parties involved. We also plan to work with local communities to create initiatives that help conserve biodiversity.
c) Adversely affecting the forest ecosystem or local communities. 2. We endorse the use of the following types of lumber: a) Certified as forest-friendly (or equivalent certification). b) Construction waste or recycled materials. c) Japanese domestic/regional lumber.
CSR Report The Okamura Group CSR report gives a summary of all activities that aim to provide both economic and environmental benefits. Please refer to the Okamura Group website. http://www.okamura.co.jp/
Environmental Education for Children As part of our commitment to contribute to a sustainable society through environmentally-friendly manufacturing and services, we sent some employees to elementary schools to teach the children topics such as the importance of protecting the global environment, taking good care of products, and techniques to extend the life of their desks and chairs.

Library Library as a lifelong learning space Today, libraries fulfill not only "static" functions as a place of knowledge and a reading space, but also "dynamic" functions as an active information source and social participation. This organic combination of "static" and "dynamic" functions contributes to improving knowledge and skills of individuals as well as evolving into a place leading to community vitalization.
13
We reviewed traditional libraries as a functional space matrix. That is a viewpoint from which we do not focus on areas but on purposes of users. Okamura makes specific and total proposals for libraries to function as a comfortable and lifelong learning space for users. Functional Space Matrix

Steel Panel Bookshelf / LIVE LINE
The steel panel bookshelf with minimal sharp design. LIVE LINE offers a steel panel bookshelf with its design pursued to detail. The design with no back panel creates a clear space. The shelf plate transforms to a cover display by changing the direction ( first in the steel panel bookshelves ), and wide varieties of side plates are available as well. This is a next generation of steel panel bookshelves that has achieved sharp design as well as functions.

Push turn rivet to prevent shelf plate to rise LS68KP- G271
The upper hook is attached at the upper part of the bracket to prevent the bracket from falling due to vertical shaking caused by an earthquake, etc. The height of bracket is adjustable at 25-mm intervals.
The standard brackets can transform the shelf plate into a 4°-slanted shelf. The 4°-slanted shelf prevents books from falling as well as improves visibility of books. This provides a higher level of security for an earthquake with a seismic intensity of 5.
A high-strength 50×50 square pipe with 2.3 mm in thickness is used for the support pillar. This structure enables strength against horizontal shaking due to an earthquake, etc.
The plastic push turn rivets are available to be mounted for the left and right corners on the front side of the shelf plate to secure the bracket and shelf plate to prevent the shelf plate from rising ( optional ).
Sensitive anti-drop bar
Anti-drop bar
When detecting an earthquake with a seismic intensity of 5 or higher, the bar drops and prevents books from falling. It is recommended to install the bar to the top two shelves of 2200H/1900H.
Prevents stored items from falling due to shaking. The simple operation allows easy access to and stacking of books. Especially, installing the bar to the upper shelves is effective for an unexpected event.
